Rebecca Canter’s career is a remarkable story of creativity, leadership, and resilience. With over 20 years of experience, Rebecca has established herself as a highly skilled graphic designer, marketing strategist, and efficient administrator. Her journey, which spans the military and civilian sectors, is a testament to her ability to adapt and thrive in diverse, high-pressure environments.

Rebecca’s path to success began in January 2003 when she enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Multimedia Illustrator. From the beginning, her creative talents and strong organizational skills set her apart. Assigned to Fort Hood, Texas (now known as Fort Cavazos since May 2023), Rebecca rapidly earned acclaim for her design, photography, and journalistic talents, frequently showcased in local and base publications. She earned a reputation for balancing artistic excellence with the logistical demands of military operations, ensuring that every project she undertook was completed with efficiency and the highest standards of quality.
During her time in the Army, Rebecca also received rigorous training in basic combat soldier skills, which became foundational to her success. She mastered physical fitness, weaponry, tactical communication, land navigation, and teamwork—all of which equipped her with the discipline, resilience, and adaptability necessary to perform in high-stress environments. These combat skills not only prepared her to thrive on the battlefield but also gave her the mental toughness needed to navigate the challenges of military life and beyond.
Her career gained momentum during her two deployments to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom—pivotal experiences that shaped her professional trajectory. Working under extreme pressure and in some of the most challenging and dangerous conditions, Rebecca produced vital communication materials—everything from military reports and newsletters to posters and morale-boosting imagery—focused on keeping soldiers informed, connected, and motivated. Her work became indispensable, providing troops with the information they needed to perform their duties and stay focused during challenging times.
Rebecca’s role in Iraq went beyond that of a typical designer. She was often in high-pressure situations where time was critical and the stakes were incredibly high. Her ability to rapidly produce clear and effective visual content for tactical and strategic purposes made her an indispensable part of the operation. Her designs were not only used to communicate key information but also played a crucial role in coordinating logistics and supporting the military’s broader objectives. In these moments, Rebecca’s work became an essential tool for success on the battlefield.
While deployed, Rebecca’s combat training also came into play as she worked in environments where situational awareness was paramount. She applied her military training in planning, problem-solving, and decision-making to handle unexpected situations, whether adapting to sudden mission changes or ensuring the safety and efficiency of her team. These experiences further honed her leadership and problem-solving skills, which she carried with her throughout her career.
After returning from Iraq, Rebecca was stationed in Belgium, where she served as a Graphic Designer and Printing Technician for the United States North Atlantic Treaty Organization (US-NATO). In this role, Rebecca worked on designing and overseeing the production of a wide variety of materials for an international audience spanning 28 nations. Her ability to create top-tier design solutions in a multilingual, cross-cultural environment earned her recognition from several countries, further solidifying her reputation as a highly adaptable and skilled designer.
Rebecca’s career took another significant turn when she transitioned into the role of Army Recruiter in Sacramento, California. Here, she used her creative skills to design impactful recruitment campaigns, engaging potential recruits through visually compelling materials. At the same time, Rebecca applied her organizational expertise to the administrative side of recruitment—managing budgets, coordinating projects, and tracking performance. This role allowed her to refine her marketing and administrative abilities while continuing to leverage her creative talents.
Throughout her military career, Rebecca mastered both creative design and project management. She designed everything from websites and print advertisements to military reports, flyers, posters, brochures, and presentations. Her ability to oversee multiple projects, coordinate resources, and foster strong client relationships was essential to the success of every task she undertook. Whether working independently or as part of a larger team, Rebecca ensured that every project was completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
After transitioning to civilian life, Rebecca continued to build on her extensive experience. As a freelance designer, she collaborates with clients, helping them create visually compelling branding materials, marketing strategies, and websites that drive results. Her organizational skills and attention to detail allow her to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish. Whether working with small businesses or large corporations, Rebecca brings the same commitment and expertise to every project she undertakes.
Rebecca’s career is not only a testament to her skills but also to her character—her unwavering commitment to excellence, her adaptability in the face of challenges, and her drive to make a meaningful impact wherever she goes.
